Recently in an interview at ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ on Thursday, actor Liam Neeson revealed that he was approached by producer Barbara Broccoli about taking up the iconic role of James Bond 007, briefly after his appearance in Schindler’s List in 1993, reported People’s magazine.
The 69-year-old actor revealed that his late wife gave him an ultimatum for essaying the role of James Bond. The BAFTA-nominated actor admitted that he couldn’t take the offer because he had to choose between his wife and the role of James Bond at that time.
On the show, Liam told James, “I know they were looking at various actors and I was among them. However, my dear, the departed wife did say to me … ‘Darling, if you’re offered James Bond and you’re going to play it, you’re not going to marry me.”
Natasha, the actor’s wife who died at the age of 45 in 2009 due to a sustained head injury while she was skiing at Quebec’s Mont Tremblant. Natasha suffered trauma from a blunt force as she fell on a beginner’s slope while out with an instructor and refused to take initial medical treatment after the accident.
In Natasha’s memory, Liam and Micheal, who is their eldest son made a film in 2020 called ‘Made in Italy’ about a father and a son coping with the pain of loss.
Micheal had changed his last name to honour her mother in 2018. He said that he “felt” her mother’s presence while filming the movie.
Earlier, Micheal had told People’s magazine, “When you lose somebody so close to you, sometimes you just push it away and out of your head because the thought of them hurts, but I found that’s an unhealthy thing to do. You have to remember them.”
