Kit Harington is stepping into a new role in the upcoming third season of HBO’s Industry. Known for his iconic portrayal of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, Harington will play Henry Muck, the CEO of a green tech company preparing to go public. As a fan of the series from its previous seasons, Harington expressed his excitement about joining a show he enjoys.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared his enthusiasm, saying, “It was fun coming on board something that you’ve seen, that you enjoy, that you’re a fan of. I’d not done that before and it’s a bit geeky. You step into a world that you know and you’re like, ‘Ooh, I’m excited to be here.’”
In contrast to his role as the morally upright Jon Snow, Harington’s new character, Henry Muck, is much darker and morally ambiguous. He explained, “I think there will be no doubt in the audience’s mind that Henry Muck is not morally just at all, he really isn’t. The question is whether they like him, whether they care for him, and understand that those shaky moral foundations have arrived for a reason.”
Harington noted that playing Jon Snow was sometimes challenging due to his character’s moral perfection, saying, “Jon Snow was wonderful, I loved him, but he was sometimes tricky to play because he was morally kind of perfect, which is difficult to play sometimes.”
Harington joins a cast that includes Marisa Abela, Myha’la, Harry Lawtey, Ken Leung, and David Jonsson. His co-stars have praised his performance, with Abela describing him as a brilliant actor whose portrayal of Henry Muck brought a fresh perspective to the role. She also highlighted that Harington is a genuinely nice person to work with. Myha’la added that having Harington, who respects the show as a fan, was a huge compliment.
Season three of Industry is set to premiere on Sunday. You can check out the trailer for the new season below.
In addition to his role in Industry, Harington recently appeared in Alexander J. Farrell’s film The Beast Within. The movie, which premiered on July 26, 2024, follows a 10-year-old girl named Willow (played by Caoilinn Springall) who discovers her werewolf heritage.
