Kevin Costner was delighted when he received an unexpected invitation from Prince William for a private meeting some years ago while he happened to be in England. Recalling the moment with excitement, Costner shared, “I got this message that the prince would love to talk, and I said, ‘What?’… and then I went, ‘Okay.'” The meeting, held in a private room with just the two of them, left a lasting impression on Costner.

Describing their initial interaction, Costner reminisced, “He walked up, and we shook hands… The first line out of his mouth was, ‘You know, my mom kind of fancied you.'” This wasn’t Costner’s first brush with the royal family; years earlier, he had been in discussions with Princess Diana about collaborating on a sequel to his hit film The Bodyguard.

Reflecting on his encounter with Prince William, Costner described it as “very sweet.” He fondly recalled the prince as “young and lovely” and cherished the moment they shared. The actor also recounted how Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, had facilitated his meeting with Princess Diana, emphasizing Ferguson’s warmth and generosity.
