Kenan Thompson, the beloved star of Saturday Night Live (SNL), recently shared some heartwarming memories from his early career, reminiscing about his time on All That and Good Burger. In a conversation at Nintendo New York earlier this month, the 46-year-old actor discussed these cherished keepsakes and reflected on his incredible journey in showbiz, as reported by PEOPLE.

Special Keepsakes from All That

Thompson fondly recalled his time on Nickelodeon’s sketch series All That, which aired in the 1990s. Among his favorite memorabilia are the original T-shirts emblazoned with the show’s iconic logo. “Our original T-shirts of the logo were very special,” Thompson said, highlighting the All That-themed clothing as significant mementos. He also mentioned other logo-branded items, like backpacks, that the cast received. “We were all obsessed with that logo. It was really cool,” he added.

Memories from Good Burger

Thompson also has fond memories of Good Burger, where he played a prominent role. The comedian admitted to taking a few hats from the set, which were part of the restaurant workers’ uniforms in the film. “I got a couple of Good Burger hats, for sure,” he said. While these weren’t his specific hats, he values them as tangible reminders of his early career and the enjoyable moments on set.

Since his days on Nickelodeon, Thompson has enjoyed a flourishing career and is now the longest-running cast member on SNL, having joined the show in 2003. He expressed his enthusiasm for the most recent episodes of SNL‘s 49th season, highlighting the standout hosts who made the season memorable.

Thompson reminisced about the season’s opening with Pete Davidson, noting that Davidson’s contribution was often overlooked. He also praised other hosts, including Kate McKinnon and Maya Rudolph. “Kate McKinnon was at Christmas, followed by Maya Rudolph and Jake Gyllenhaal at the end,” Thompson recounted. He lauded Rudolph for performing a motherhood-themed medley during her hosting gig, emphasizing her talent and influence on the show.

Thompson spoke highly of Maya Rudolph, describing her as exceptionally talented. “If anything defines how people feel about Maya Rudolph these days, it is a two-minute song that she destroyed because that is what she does,” he said. He praised Rudolph, the Bridesmaids star, as one of the best performers on the show, highlighting her significant impact.

Kenan Thompson’s reflections on his early career and treasured keepsakes showcase his enduring love for his beginnings on All That and Good Burger. His successful transition to SNL and continued admiration for his colleagues reflect his passion for the entertainment industry and the lasting bonds he’s formed along the way.
