According to the report, Sheeran expressed his commitment to working on his next album while dedicating the remainder of the year to establishing a music program for youth. This decision stems from his personal experience and concern over the lack of funding for music education in schools. Sheeran, who previously donated to his alma mater, Thomas Mills High in Suffolk, after learning about funding cuts in 2018, has now expanded his efforts nationwide.
“I started doing that in the county I’m from, and we’ve just now changed to doing it nationwide,” Sheeran shared. He emphasized the impact of supporting schools that struggle with insufficient funding for music programs, highlighting how crucial music education was for him despite not being considered academically inclined.
Reflecting on his own education, Sheeran emphasized the importance of attending a state-funded school that encouraged his musical talents. In a separate interview with People magazine in May, Sheeran discussed his plans for releasing new music in 2024. While he confirmed working on fresh material, he hinted at the possibility of not releasing any new songs this year, citing his enjoyment of being on tour and balancing record releases while performing live.
Recently, Sheeran took to Instagram to announce the extension of his Mathematics Tour into 2025, indicating plans to visit new venues across Europe.
