Glen Powell, known for his roles in Twisters and Hit Man, is set to guest star in the first of two “Family Guy” holiday specials that will stream exclusively on Hulu. In the Halloween-themed episode premiering on October 14, Powell will portray “Patrick McCloskey,” the reigning champion of Quahog’s annual Pumpkin Contest. Also featured in this episode is Derek Jacobi, who will voice Stewie’s cherished teddy bear, Rupert.
According to the episode’s logline, Peter and his friends will try to dethrone Powell’s character in the pumpkin contest by any means necessary. The announcement of Powell and Jacobi’s guest roles was made during the “Family Guy” panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Following this Halloween special, a Christmas episode is also on the way.
The Halloween episode will give fans something to look forward to as they wait for Season 23 of “Family Guy” to return to Fox in midseason. This will be the first time since 2005 that the show won’t be part of Fox’s fall schedule.
Teasers for the new season include several exciting plotlines: Peter accidentally revealing his lack of ball-throwing skills, Meg dating the giant chicken’s son, and Chris losing his earring in a “Lord of the Rings”-themed adventure. Stewie discovers that his stuffed bear Rupert was made in China and embarks on a mission to reunite him with his family there. Other season highlights include parodies of The White Lotus, Top Gun (as “Fat Gun”), and Alone, plus commentary on the Supreme Court and George Santos. There’s even a cameo by Pete Davidson, who humorously shares his dating secret.
During the Comic-Con panel, Alex Borstein, known for her role as Lois Griffin, entertained the audience with a rendition of the song “What Was I Made For” from Barbie, performed in Lois’s voice. This performance was a playful nod to an episode where MacFarlane tells the characters they’re not real.
