Danny Trejo, Ana Ortiz, Tom Kenny, Cara Delevingne, Tim Gunn, Bill Nye, Kyle MacLachlan, LeVar Burton, and Neil deGrasse Tyson are set to guest star in the upcoming episodes of “Futurama.” The announcement was made by producers Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, and Claudia Katz during San Diego Comic-Con in Ballroom 20. They were joined by voice actors Billy West, John DiMaggio, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, David Herman, and Maurice LaMarche.

The new episodes, launching with Season 12 on Hulu, promise to continue Fry and Leela’s romance and feature exciting plot points, including birthday party games to the death, Bender’s ancestral robot village, A.I. friends and enemies, and the true story behind coffee.

Here’s a look at Futurama’s guest star roles:

  • Danny Trejo: Bender’s cousin Doblando, who leads him to their ancestral robot village in Mexico.
  • Tom Kenny: A gambling alien who forces the crew to play deadly children’s games.
  • Ana Ortiz: Marquita, the champion of robot matadors and Bender’s bug fighting tutor.
  • Cara Delevingne: Herself, with some additional futuristic parts, as a force in future fashion.
  • Tim Gunn: Himself, covering Milan Fashion Week 3024.
  • Bill Nye: Himself, hosting the 3024 Inventors Awards.
  • Kyle MacLachlan: Himself, enjoying the universe’s best coffee.
  • LeVar Burton: An unlicensed hologram of himself.
  • Neil deGrasse Tyson: Himself, solving the greatest mystery of all time with science.

During the panel, the producers also teased a possible crossover with “The Simpsons” and joked about a potential crossover with “Disenchantment.” The panel included a unique table read of the episode “Quid’s Game,” a parody of “Squid Game,” with Act 2 shown as a clip.

“Futurama” originally aired in 1999 on Fox and has been revived multiple times. After its initial run, it found success on Adult Swim, DVD, and Comedy Central, which produced more seasons from 2008 to 2013. Hulu picked up the show for 20 episodes in February 2022 and renewed it for two more seasons in November 2023.
