Anime has exploded into a worldwide phenomenon. Not long ago, it was a niche interest among a small group of dedicated fans, but now, it’s a major reason why kids today form friendships. If you love Jujutsu Kaisen, chances are everyone you know does too.

We owe much of this success to Jujutsu Kaisen itself. This anime has shattered the “nerdy” barriers, transforming anime from something seen as weird to something undeniably cool. With more collaborations between anime titles and various brands, its popularity is skyrocketing, especially in marketing terms. There’s even a rumor that Jujutsu Kaisen might be teaming up with McDonald’s. Could this mean a special Jujutsu Kaisen Happy Meal is on the way? Stay tuned!

Is there a Jujutsu Kaisen McDonald’s menu?

Nope, there won’t be a Jujutsu Kaisen Happy Meal or special menu at McDonald’s. The buzz started when McDonald’s teased a collaboration on their X (formerly Twitter) account, featuring an image of mysterious blue flames. To most people, it was just a cool picture, but Jujutsu Kaisen fans instantly recognized those cursed energy flames from the anime. Excited fans speculated about special menu items, but what they’re actually getting is a new sauce.

Yes, you heard that right—a sauce. This special-grade sauce, inspired by Jujutsu Kaisen, is made with black garlic, a popular ingredient in McDonald’s Japan, now finally making its way to the U.S. Described as tangy, sweet, and garlicky with a hint of soy sauce, it’s sure to spice up your fries and nuggets.

But wait, there’s more! There will be eight unique lids for the sauce, each featuring a different Jujutsu Kaisen character. You can collect lids with Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Satoru Gojo, Kento Nanami, Suguru Geto, Mahito, or Sukuna. Each lid comes in different colors, adding a fun collectible twist. Plus, if you buy the sauce, you get a free 30-day trial on Crunchyroll. Not a bad deal, right?

The timing of this collaboration might also be tied to the ongoing boycott of McDonald’s due to their perceived support of Israel. Some are avoiding the chain to protest, and this Jujutsu Kaisen partnership could be seen as an effort to attract more customers, or it could just be a fun collab like the ones they’ve done with Travis Scott and BTS.

This isn’t McDonald’s first foray into anime collaborations. Back in February, they teamed up with animation studio House Pierrot for a four-episode-long WcDonald’s anime. But Jujutsu Kaisen marks the first time McDonald’s has collaborated with an actual anime since the chain opened in 1955. So, while we might not get themed Happy Meals, Jujutsu Kaisen fans still have something exciting to look forward to at McDonald’s.
