When Johnny Depp filed a defamation case against Amber Heard in 2018, the legal fight between the former couple erupted. He found it offensive that she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse” in an opinion piece she wrote for The Washington Post. Depp asserted that the piece hurt his acting career even though he wasn’t specifically mentioned in it.
