Claire Danes is geared up to headline Netflix’s The Beast In Me, which reunites her with Homeland showrunner Howard Gordon on the new limited series. The mystery thriller project is created, written, and executive produced by The X Files alum Gabe Rotter.

The actress has been roped in to play a grieving author Aggie Wiggs, who finds an unlikely subject in her next door neighbor, Nile Sheldon, who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance.

As per the reports by Deadline, the series has been in development hell as the origin can be traced back by 6 to 7 years ago, when Gabe originally wrote the script on spec, with a male protagonist. When the script to gain any attention, he changed the protagonist to Aggie, as suggested by his team. The new script bought on executive producers like Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross, Jodie Foster, on board which strengthened the project.

While Claire is best known for her nine year long stint on Homeland, she has a wide span of movies and TV shows to her names including Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Shopgirl, Temple Grandin, and Stardust.
