Chris Hemsworth, a well-known actor best recognised for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, previously made news when rumours about his retirement plans surfaced.

Because of the actor’s genetic propensity for Alzheimer’s disease, it was assumed that he would soon retire from acting. Chris Hemsworth reportedly learned about the opportunities while working on the National Geographic programme Limitless.

But in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Extraction 2 actor finally put the matter to rest, went into great detail regarding his brief absence from the big screen, and made it clear that he has no immediate plans to retire.

Hemsworth then clarified that the ‘over-dramatized’ headlines had exaggerated the situation because the break had nothing to do with the health revelations he made while filming Limitless.

“I was exhausted, and I wanted to be home with my family,” stated the actor who opened up about his break from films. “It was interesting, because those two headlines got coupled together, that I was taking time off because of the genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s,” revealed Chris Hemsworth in his chat with Entertainment Weekly. “That experience and that show made me go, ‘Oh wow, none of us are invincible.’ It kind of slams you into the moment. You start asking bigger questions, and you think, ‘I need to slow down and just experience this moment now and not have the years race by,” he added.

“It was a positive in that sense, but it got a little over-dramatized like I was potentially retiring because of this thing. Which just isn’t the case,” confirmed the Thor actor. “My concern was I just didn’t want to manipulate it, overdramatize it, and make it into some hokey grab at empathy or whatever for entertainment. It’s not like I’ve been handed my resignation,” he concluded.

Extraction 2, a follow-up to the action movie Extraction, which was released in 2020, has brought the well-known performer back to the big screen. Chris Hemsworth recently spoke up about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and his next role as Thor, saying that he wants the fifth film to be ‘unpredictable’ as opposed to Thor 4, which was far too’silly.’ He did, however, acknowledge that the initiative had not yet undergone any official developments.
