Chris Brown has shared new information about his upcoming 11th studio album.
The R&B mainstay took to Instagram to announce that his second album, 11:11, will be released on November 11.
He also said that the album will have 11 tracks, in response to those fans who have criticised the length of his previous albums, such as Heartbreak on a Full Moon, Indigo, and Breezy.
Heartbreak, for example, has 57 tracks and lasts 3 hours and 15 minutes, which is a few minutes longer than a feature film like Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
While there are hardcore Breezy fans who prefer more songs, Brown has his intention set for a more abbreviated project.
“I see Some of my die hard fans wanting me to add more songs for the new project and I love y’all for that. But, I just feel I need you all to really miss me and take my art seriously. IM JUST focused on giving y’all the best to digest. 11:11 make a wish,” he wrote in the caption for his Instagram post announcing his new album.
Brown’s choice to reduce the number of tracks on his next album should not surprise fans.
In a since-deleted Instagram post in May, he said, “Y’all ready for some new music?” I’ve been confined to the studio. Ultra instinct has been awakened. I’ll announce the album title soon. NO MORE LPs with 20 to 40 songs. DIGESTING JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF MAGIC.”
The lead song from 11:11 will be “Summer Too Hot.” The official video will be released on Friday, August 18.
Brown’s next album will be released in 2022, following his Grammy-nominated album, Breezy. Breezy (Deluxe) was released on July 8, while the basic version was published on June 24.
In November, he republished the album as Breezy – It’s Giving Christmas, which included two bonus holiday tracks.
Brown hasn’t been making his own music in the studio. He recently worked with Ciara on her new track, “How We Roll.” It debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart, giving Brown his 48th top 10 hit.
He also collaborated with Ty Dolla $ign on “Motion (Remix),” “Don’t Give It Away,” “How Does It Feel,” and “Do You Mind,” all of which were released this year.
