Well, that was quick! Rome Flynn becomes the latest actor to exit Chicago Fire despite of making his appearance as Derrick Gibson in this season only. The actor confirmed the call on his Instagram as he shared several pictures from the sets of the show with the caption, “curtain call chicago fire.” In his Instagram post, he celebrates being a part of the show as the photos feature him wearing firefighter gears in his trailer, and a monitor photo of him filming the heartbreaking bathroom scene.

In the latest episode, Rome’s character Derrick lost it in the firehouse as he sustains minor injuries after punching into a locker. It was evidently clear that since day one of his enrollment in the firehouse, something had been troubling him. It was revealed that he was previously a boxer, who had mistakenly killed someone. He also has addiction to opioids, something that throws him off the edge in the latest episode when he exhausts his supply and withdrawal starts.

He was adviced by Carver to leave the firehouse and focus on getting better.
