For “Frozen Planet II,” Grammy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Cuban-American singer-songwriter Camila Cabello have collaborated on a new song. According to Variety, the new song, ‘Take Me Back Home,’ will be used in the series’ first extended teaser, which will be narrated by David Attenborough.
The sequel to the 2011 series, ‘Frozen Planet II,’ is a six-episode tour around Earth’s polar areas, including the North and South poles, created by BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit. The song will have its global debut on BBC Radio 1’s Greg James Show on August 26 ahead of the release of the ‘Frozen Planet II’ first-look teaser at 12:00 p.m. UK BST, with a little help from Cabello and Zimmer themselves. “To be able to combine my passion for the world we live on with my music is a dream come true,” she says of the song, “let alone getting to collaborate with the legend that is Hans Zimmer.”
Zimmer collaborated on the orchestration alongside long-time colleagues Anze Rozman and producer Russell Emanuel for Bleeding Fingers Music. “It was very wonderful writing and recording ‘Take Me Back Home’ with Camila and realising that her musical abilities are as tremendous as her voice,” he remarked.
According to Variety, the show’s executive producer, Mark Brownlow, has dubbed it “a celebration of wonderful animals overcoming the trials of extreme living However, it now confronts an even larger threat in the form of climate change.” “Hans and Camila’s profoundly emotional original song conveys the fragility of these beautiful regions at a time when their very destiny is hanging in the balance,” he continued.
