Betsy Brandt, popularly known for her for role in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is set to star and executive produce in the newly greenlit Lifetime movie The Bad Orphan. Alongside her, Chloe Coco Chapman will be making her television debut and other cast members include Mark Taylor and Eve Edwards, from The Good Doctor.
The film has been written by Doris Egan, the psychological drama centers on Jessica, played by Betsy, and Karl, played by Mark, who are loving parents to Rhiannon, played by Eve. After years of trying to expand their family, the parents are elated to adopt Gabby, played by Chloe, who is an 8-year-old orphan girl with personal challenges. Their idea of perfect family comes into question when they discover that Gabby is a troubled little girl, and the family begins to believe that things are not what they seem.
As the unsettling behaviour of their “child” worsens and deepens the crack in their family, Jessica increasingly becomes concerning that the adopted one is a threat to her family.
The film is currently underway and is slated to premiere as part of Lifetime’s summer slate. Bad Orphan is backed by Neshama Entertainment in association with MarVista Entertainment.
