‘Avtar’ producer confirms Vin Diesel will not be a part of film franchise

Even though Vin Diesel made a big deal out of joining James Cameron’s long-awaited sequels in 2019, franchise producer Jon Landau has since announced that Diesel will not be appearing in them after all.

According to a recent announcement from the film’s producer, actor Vin Diesel will ultimately not appear in any additional instalments of James Cameron’s Avatar series. Despite the Fast and Furious star strongly hinting in 2019 that he joined Cameron’s eagerly awaited sequels, series producer Jon Landau has reportedly told Empire magazine that Diesel is not actually in the Avatar sequels. In 2019, when the actor shared a video to Instagram with Cameron from the set of the movie, rumours about Diesel’s Avatar casting began to circulate.

He said, “There is one person in Hollywood I’ve always wanted to work with and learn from, and so, all things come, I guess, to those that wait.” The video inspired headlines such as ‘Vin Diesel Appears to Join ‘Avatar’ Sequels’, reported Variety.

“I think it’s safe to say that we will be collaborating because I love James Cameron and I love the series”, Diesel said in a later interview to MTV, appearing to confirm the rumours.

“Vin loved music. People misinterpreted what he said when he walked in and stopped by the set one day to check what we were up to”, Landau now says, according to Deadline.

Diesel explicitly stated to Entertainment Tonight that his connection with franchise star Zoe Saldana was one of the reasons he was “doing Avatar,” thus it’s likely that his participation in the franchise was misconstrued.

After posting a video from the sets of Avatar: The Way of Water, Vin Diesel made a buzz. The Fast and Furious star discussed working with the renowned director in the video. “And the adventure continues,” he wrote as the post’s caption, adding the hashtags “#Blessed, #Grateful, and #Avatar.”
