Before passing away on Monday at the age of 25, Angus Cloud finished filming his part in a thriller for Universal Pictures.

Variety reported on Tuesday that before his passing, Cloud had completed his work on the picture, which was helmed by the creators of Scream, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

According to the site, Melissa Barrera from Scream joins a cast that also includes Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Alisha Weir, Kevin Durand, and Will Catlett in the untitled movie, which marks the third time the directing duo, known as Radio Silence, have collaborated.

Although Cloud did finish filming his portions for the picture, which was not planned to be released until 2024, the production had already come to a halt because of the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike before the actor passed away. The movie’s narrative is unknown, however a number of publications recently classified it as a “monster thriller” similar to Renfield and 2020’s The Invisible Man.
In response to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Tuesday, representatives for Universal Pictures and the filmmakers Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett did not immediately answer.

In the months before to his passing, Cloud, who gained notoriety as the character Fezco in HBO’s Euphoria, seems to have begun acting in more motion pictures.

According to his IMDb biography, Cloud had two further movies in development at the time of his death: Your Lucky Day and Freaky Tales, both of which were already finished or in post-production. Cloud had his film debut in 2021’s North Hollywood, and this year he made an appearance in The Line.

The actor Cloud “intensely struggled with this loss,” according to Cloud’s family, who confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday that he passed away at his family’s home in Oakland, California. Cloud’s father was buried last week.

“The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend,” the statement continued. “Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

Although the Oakland Fire Department did not specifically mention Cloud, Chief of Staff Michael Hunt of the department told PEOPLE that the department was called to a nearby property on Monday at 11:30am for a “medical emergency.” “The patient was determined to be already deceased” when they got there. Hunt was unable to give a death cause.

As word of Cloud’s passing circulated on social media on Monday, some of the actor’s Euphoria co-stars, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Lukas Gauge, posted heartfelt memories to the actor.

“I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it),” Zendaya, 26, wrote in a caption to an Instagram post showing a black-and-white image of Cloud.
