Jacob Elordi, who starred in the television series Euphoria, is reportedly in the running to replace Henry Cavill as Kal-El, according to a recent rumour. James Gunn stressed that having the character present in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is still of utmost importance in light of Henry Cavill’s departure from the DC Universe.
Director James Gunn also claims that he is working on reviving the Superman film franchise because there has been no news of a new Superman project. James Gunn clarified the rumours on social media after it was suggested that Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi would be taking on the part of Superman, the most powerful superhero in the DCEU. The director stated that the project’s casting is still being finalised, indicating that Elordi won’t be taking the place of Henry Cavill.
He posted on Twitter, saying: “Casting will take place when the script is finished or nearly finished, as is almost always the case with me, but it doesn’t. In a short while, we’ll make a few announcements, but not one of them will be the casting of Superman.”
Regarding Jacob Elordi’s Hollywood career, the actor is now developing an Elvis Presley biopic in addition to appearing in the Kissing Booth franchise and Euphoria. The actor has yet to take on a major superhero role in a series.
Executives at Warner Bros. are seeking for an Australian actor. According to the sources, “An Australian actor who starred in a Netflix trilogy and is currently appearing in an HBO teen series (likely Jacob Elordi) is being sought for the role of Superman. The movie will be released in the summer of 2025.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken the roles of CEOs, but their new strategy for prospective projects is still a secret. James Gunn has been the sole teaser for many new DC Universe characters.
