Kat Dennings, known for her role in 2 Broke Girls, is set to return to broadcast and the multi-camera comedy format as the co-lead opposite Tim Allen in the ABC pilot Shifting Gears. The actress will also be serving as a producer from the 20th Television.
The series, written by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, revolves around Matt, played by Tim, who is a stubborn widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When his estranged daughter, Riley, played by Kat, moves into his house with her teenage children, the real restoration begins.
Kat’s character Riley had butted heads with her father to marry her boyfriend, whom her father disliked. Now divorced, she has been forced to move back in with her father with her two kids, and hopes that this time she will make it work with her father.
The actress is known for leading 2 Broke Girls, which ran for six seasons on CBS, and Dollface on Hulu, which went on for two seasons.
Meanwhile, Kat is also known for her role as Darcy Lewis in Marvel’s Thor movie franchise. She had reprised the role on the studio’s praised Disney+ series WandaVision.
Shifting Gears will executive produce by Scullys along with Last Man Standing executive producers Tim, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Rick Messina, and Richard Baker.
