Honey Singh recently shared the story behind the writing of his song “Chaar Botal Vodka.” In an interaction, the singer revealed that he penned the song after having actually consumed four bottles of vodka with two of his teammates in Australia. He went on to say, the song was a creation of his anger after members of the Sikh community protested against his performance when he was on world tour with Shah Rukh Khan.

In an interview with The Lallantop, the singer also reacted to the rumors of SRK slapping him, saying, “I can’t answer this here. You’ll hear about it in my documentary on Netflix.” However, he later added, “Nothing like that happened.”

Reminiscing over what sparked within him to pen “Chaar Botal Vodka,” Honey shared, “I wrote that song after drinking four bottles of vodka with two other people in Australia. I was on a world tour with Shah Rukh Khan in 2013 after Chennai Express’ release and my community-the Sikh community-started protesting… Shah Rukh Khan told me that, ‘I am with you. If you are not allowed, I won’t do the world tour.’ It’s a big thing for him to even say that.”

Detailing the origin of the song, he revealed, “Finally, I went on the tour. I performed. There were some 25,000-30,000 people cheering for me but there were 500 people outside who were burning my effigies. Those 500 people irritated and hurt me.” He added that post his show, he started drinking with his choreographer and dancer, where he created the beat of the song. “I decided to sing the song in a child’s accent. I thought they are telling me that I am ruining their culture, now I will make sure that I will embed this song in their breed and make sure that every kid sings it,” he continued

He revealed that SRK had warned him that he will be criticized for the song, but Yo Yo remained determined saying, “Mein toh aise he gaunga.”

The singer collaborated with SRK for Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express, wherein he wrote and composed Lungi Dance.
