Amrita Pandey, a Bhojpuri actress, was discovered dead in her flat in Bhagalpur, Bihar, on Thursday, April 25. On Saturday, word of her terrible death broke.
According to media accounts, she hung herself by her saree from the ceiling fan in her home. Her death has stunned many people, as she left a mysterious letter on social media hours before she died.
Amrita was reportedly known by her stage name, Annapurna. She was a popular figure in the Bhojpuri cinema business. Amrita also appeared in various Hindi web series, films, and advertisements.
The 27-year-old previously appeared alongside Bhojpuri icon Khesari Lal Yadav in the film Deewanapan.
Amrita married Chandramani Jhangad, a Mumbai-based animation engineer, in 2022.
The late actress lived in Mumbai with her husband.
Following her death, Amrita’s close family reported that the actress had been suffering from depression and other mental health difficulties for some time and was even seeking treatment for them. She also experienced job-related concerns.
Cops are probing her unexpected death, but depression is suspected as the cause. No suicide note was discovered in her flat.
According to the police report, hours before the actress was discovered hanging, she said on WhatsApp, “Kyun do naov par sawaar thi uski zindagi, humne naov dubakar uska safar aasaan kar diya…”.
Amrita’s family and husband have yet to issue an official comment.
