“Who is spreading these rumours?” Mithun Chakraborty’s family SLAMS reports of his hospitalisation in Kolkata

Mithun Chakraborty’s son said that the actor is ‘100 percent OK’.

Hours after it was reported that veteran actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty had been hospitalised in Kolkata due to a chest problem, his daughter-in-law, Madalsa Sharma, denied the report. The Anupamaa actress stated that the actor went to the hospital for a normal checkup and is OK.

According to Telly Chakkar, Madalsa criticised the claims of his hospitalisation, saying, “It was just a routine check-up; who is spreading these rumours?”

Mithun’s elder son, Mimoh Chakraborty, told Indian Express that the veteran actor is “100 percent fine, and it was a routine checkup.”

Earlier on Saturday (February 10), it was reported that the Disco Dancer actor was taken to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata after feeling unwell and complaining of chest trouble.

The Government of India recognised the three-time National Film Award winner as the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian accolade, in January 2024.

Reacting to being conferred with the honour, Mithun had said in a video, “I am proud, I am happy to have received this award. I would like to thank everyone. I have never asked anything for myself from anyone. I am experiencing the feeling of receiving something without asking today. It’s a different feeling altogether. It’s a great feeling.”

Meanwhile, Mithun Chakraborty most recently appeared as a judge on the dancing reality show dancing Bangla Dance.

He became well-known in the 1980s and 1990s for his dynamic performances in action, drama, and dance films. He is well recognised for his signature dance technique, earning the nickname Disco Dancer for his appearance in the 1982 film of the same name.

The actor also dabbled in politics, briefly sitting as a Member of Parliament. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in March 2021, ahead of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly election.
