Pran, a veteran actor, is regarded as Bollywood’s greatest villain of all time. He appeared in more than 350 films during the almost seven decades of his prolific career.

He refused to accept a Filmfare award in the 1970s because he thought Ghulam Mohammad, a deserving artist, had been unfairly rejected for the Pakeezah soundtrack.
According to a 2013 article in the Hindustan Times, Pran declined to accept the Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor (for Beimaan) because he believed Ghulam Mohammad should have received the honor for Best Music. The year before, Pran’s movie Beimaan won for best music.

Pran has received awards for his negative roles on several occasions. The actor, who made his screen debut in Yamla Jat in 1940, has been nominated for and won more than 30 awards throughout the course of his career. Among Pran’s honors are the Padma Bhushan, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the Filmfare Awards, and honors from various organizations.

Beimaan received seven Filmfare nominations in 2013. Best director, film, actor, musician, lyricist, male playback vocalist, and supporting actor nominations were among them. In the end, the movie won six awards. It’s interesting to note that Shor, Anandata, Pakeezah, and Beimaan were all released in the same year.

Along with Dev Anand, IS Johar, and Shatrughan Sinha, Pran was one of the few movie stars who opposed the Emergency and promoted democracy. Pran was recognised for standing up for justice and what he believed in.
