When Kareena Kapoor Khan rejected Kaho Na Pyar Hai, here’s what she had to say

Kareena Kapoor Khan talked about why she said no to Hrithik Roshan’s first movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is one of the best actresses in Bollywood and she has given many blockbusters through these years. Her filmography includes hit movies such as Omkara, 3 Idiots and Jab We Met. But what fewer people know is that she rejected Hrithik Roshan’s debut movie Kaho Na Pyar Hai.

She talked about this years later in an interview with film critic Rajeev Masand. She said, “Honestly, at that time nobody calculated, and nobody knew – whether it was my parents, my mother, or me — I don’t know if anybody weighed pros and cons. It was just what I thought was right. There was never really that kind of calculation. I also believe in destiny; what’s meant to happen is going to happen.”

“Of course, I went on to do so many films with Hrithik after that. We did like four or five films together, and I think that Refugee was just perfect. I got a chance to be slightly non-commercial. I somehow felt that it was more suited for me at that time,” she added.

But Hrithik Roshan’s father Rakesh Roshan has a different perspective on this. He revealed that he and Kareena’s mother Babita was not on the same page.

“Kareena’s mother Babita, who I have a lot of respect for, said, ‘Don’t begin with a song, she’s not ready. Start with dialogues’,” he says.

Kareena recently gave birth to her second child earlier this year.
