Virat Kohli clarifies the rumour that he charges Rs. 11.45 crore for an Instagram post

Virat Kohli provided clarity in response to a claim that he receives Rs 11.45 crore for each sponsored Instagram post.

A recent report on Virat Kohli’s revenues via social media has been brushed off as “not true.” Hopper HQ, a social media marketing platform, released the relevant research on Friday, and it received extensive media coverage. According to the report, the former captain of India reportedly receives an incredible Rs 11.45 crore for each sponsored Instagram post.

A day following the publication of the story, 34-year-old Virat Kohli provided an explanation of it. In a message published on X, the microblogging platform that replaced Twitter, Kohli said that rumours about his revenues via social media are baseless.

“While I am grateful and indebted to all that I’ve received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true,” he tweeted.

According to the Hopper HQ research, the wealthiest Instagram celebrities are revealed together with the price they charge for a post on the photo-sharing website. Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who reportedly makes $3,234,000 (about Rs. 26.8 crore) for each Instagram post, topped the list.

Rival Lionel Messi, who costs $2,597,000 (about Rs 21 crore) for each sponsored post, came in second place. The only Indian to reach the top 25 was Virat Kohli, who came in at number 14 on the list.

While Kohli has denied claims that he receives $1,384,000 (Rs 11.45 crore) for each Instagram post, it is thought that he gets a sizable amount from endorsements. He was the lone Indian on the Forbes list of the highest-paid athletes in the world in 2020. His current brand portfolio includes numerous well-known names, such as Puma, HSBC, O’cean Beverages, and Vivo India.
