Vetrimaaran backs Suriya in the Jai Bhim debate: “No one can be made feel lesser for doing the right thing”

The movie Jai Bhim has sparked various controversies. Director Vetrimaaran backs Suriya. He wrote a long note in support of the actor and movie and tweeted it with an assisting caption.

The film Jai Bhim, starring Suriya, has made news for all the wrong reasons. Despite earning positive reviews from reviewers and moviegoers, the picture has sparked controversy since its debut. Arulmozhi, the State President of the Vanniyar Sangam, has issued a legal notice against the film’s producers for depicting their group in a disparaging light. In the middle of the uproar, Suriya’s fans and movie stars are voicing their support for the actor.

Director Vetrimaaran wrote, “The commitment of director T.J Gnanavel to make this film to let the world know the plight of the victims and Suriya’s constant effort towards social injustice, on and off-screen is truly inspiring. #JaiBheem. It’s only natural these films cause angst amongst those who don’t the status quo to change. #WeStandWithSuriya. Films that question the inequalities and injustices of a society too are weapons towards social justice. We stand by the whole team of #Jaibheem.” He shared this long note on twitter and captioned it,  “No one can be made to feel lesser for doing the right thing#Jaibheem. Suriya is one star who is redefining stardom.”

Lokesh Kanagaraj, the director of Vikram, also shared Vetrimaaran’s message with the hashtag ‘westandwithsuriya.’

Advocate K Balu issued a notice that said, “Only with malicious intention to portray Vanniyar Sangam in poor light, the makers have deliberately framed certain scenes of the movie, only to cause greater disrepute to the community.”
