Security has been tightened at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where legendary actor Dharmendra is currently receiving treatment. The 89-year-old actor was admitted over a week ago after complaining of breathlessness, according to hospital sources.
Amid a flurry of false reports claiming Dharmendra’s demise, his wife and veteran actress Hema Malini, along with their daughter Esha Deol, issued strong statements dismissing the rumours and urging the media to act responsibly.
Esha Deol took to Instagram on Tuesday (November 11) to clarify her father’s condition, writing, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for Papa’s speedy recovery.” She has since disabled comments on the post.
Meanwhile, Hema Malini condemned the circulation of misinformation, calling it “unforgivable” and “deeply disrespectful.” She wrote on X, “How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”
On Monday, Hema Malini had earlier assured fans that Dharmendra was under close observation and being continuously monitored. “I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji. He is being continuously monitored and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery,” she had said.
Family members, including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Karan Deol, and Rajveer Deol, have been frequently visiting the hospital. Prominent Bollywood personalities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aryan Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel were also seen visiting to check on the veteran star’s health.
Fondly known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” Dharmendra remains one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved icons, with unforgettable performances in classics like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh. He was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and is next slated to appear in Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda, scheduled for release on December 25.
As per family sources, Dharmendra continues to respond positively to treatment and remains under medical supervision, with doctors optimistic about his recovery.
