On Sunday, October 22, Bollywood actor Dalip Tahil, known for his roles in films such as Baazigar, Raja, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Ghulam, Soldier, Gupt, and Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, was sentenced to two months in prison.
The sentence stems from his drunken driving conviction in 2018. In 2018, the actor was charged with drunk driving after colliding with an autorickshaw. In this case, medical experts have now testified.
The medical professional indicated that Dalip was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the occurrence, according to a popular Indian entertainment portal. The smell of alcohol, dilated pupils, an unsteady stride, and confused speech were among the symptoms stated in the testimony.
Following the most recent testimony, a court magistrate sentenced the actor to two months in prison. The incident occurred in Mumbai’s Khar neighbourhood. After actor Dalip Tahil’s car smashed into the vehicle, a woman inside was hurt. The actor was detained by the Mumbai Police but freed on bail.
According to an Indian entertainment online report, the actor declined to offer police blood samples at the time. However, the woman’s medical exams were carried out. This verdict was handed down to the 65-year-old actor five years later.
In the 1990s, the seasoned actor ruled the Hindi cinema business with nasty roles. Initially, he hoped to join the Indian Air Force like his father, but fate had other, more unique plans for him. Darr, directed by the late Yash Chopra, launched his career in Bollywood.
In the film, he portrayed Sunny Deol’s father. The filmmaker pair Abbas-Mustan was quite impressed by Dalip Tahil after watching him in Darr.
They cast him in the legendary role of Madan Chopra in the smash-hit Baazigar. The role was well received by the crowd, who praised him. It was his second collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan.
