At the start of this year it was announced that Varun Dhawan will be playing the lead role for the upcoming movie “Ekkis“, which is being directed by Sriram Raghavan. It’ll be the first movie of Varun Dhawan after Street Dancer 3D. Sriram’s film will revolve around the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal. Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, PVC born in Pune, Maharashtra, was an officer of the Indian Army and a posthumous recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military decoration for valour in face of the enemy. Arun Khetarpal was martyred at the age of 21 during the India-Pakistan War of 1971.
The shoot was stalled due to COVID-19. Now that the shoots have resumed, director Sriram has planned to push the film to 2021. A source revealed to Pinkvilla , “Sriram’s film is a war drama film which needs to be shot in different parts of India & there will be other actors too in that film because it is a film based on the India-Pakistan faceoff. There have been limitations on the set and currently only 50 people are allowed”.
Varun has signed for three other films and he will complete all those projects before jumping on to “Ekkis”. Varun is playing the lead role in Raj Mehta’s next and Amar Kaushik’s “Bhediya”. The third film he has signed is of Sajid Nadiadwala’s “Sanki” which is an action comedy. Varun loved the script and it’s going to be the first time we’re going to see him in the “Jungle Dress”.
