Varun Dhawan to work with ‘Stree’ director Amar Kaushik in a horror-comedy movie, titled Bhediya

Varun Dhawan has said ‘yes’ to working with Stree director Amar Kaushik for a horror-comedy, titled Bhediya.

Actor Varun Dhawan, who is currently stuck at home due to coronavirus pandemic has signed up a new movie. The actor was called to shoot for Sriram Raghavan’s Ekkis in May, but the movie has been currently postponed as the war sequence in the movie requires huge sets. The movie is based on the true story of second lieutenant Arun Kheterpal.

As films like Ekkis can not be shot easily, Varun decided to opt for light-hearted movies. He recently signed Good Newwz director Raj Mehta’s next romantic-comedy which will also feature Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. The movie is currently in the pre-production stage and will likely go on floors in November.

Now, according to PeepingMoon.com, Varun Dhawan has signed up for another movie project. Yes, the actor will now work with Stree director Amar Kaushik’s next film which will be produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films. The movie will be horror-comedy and will be titled as Bhediya. A source told the news portal, “Varun and Amar Kaushik have been in talks for like six months now. They were discussing two projects for a possible collaboration and finally zeroed in on this horror-comedy that has been written by Niren Bhatt who also wrote Kaushik’s last year hit BalaBhediya is said to be yet another addition in the horror-comedy universe that Dinesh Vijan is planning to build in the next couple of years.”

During the lockdown period, Varun Dhawan has rejected around three movies as he wants to focus on commercial films. He rejected Kesari director Anurag Singh’s next action entertainer for Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner, he also changed his mind for Dream Girl director Raaj Shaandilyaa’s movie about stand-up comedian. Lastly, he even rejected Shah Rukh Khan’s production house for a South remake.

The source further added, “After the box office failure of his last few films, Varun Dhawan wants to concentrate on only commercial movies for sometime and hence rejecting all the offers that seem quite offbeat and risky. Contrary to the rumours, the actor has signed only two films— Raj Mehta’s next rom-com and Amar Kaushik’s horror-comedy which will mount the sets early next year. Varun will shift his focus to Sriram Raghavan’s Arun Kheterpal biopic only after completing these two entertainers.”

Varun Dhawan was last seen in Remo D’souza’s Street Dancer 3D alongside Shraddha Kapoor, the movie did not do well in the box office.
