Udit Narayan has made it to the news once again and this time it is due to a personal front. The singer’s first wife, Ranjana Jha, has filed a maintenance case against him, and has accused him of violating her rights and usurping her property.

He had also attended a hearing at the Supaul Family Court on Friday, wherein he has declined any settlement in the case.

As per a report in Navbharat Times, the veteran singer has alleged that his first wife, Ranjana, is trying to extort money from him.

Earlier, a case was filed by Bihar Women’s Commission against Udit, but it has been resolved via a settlement.

The report by NBT further claimed that Udit had been giving Rs. 15,000 a month to Ranjana earlier and later, it was increased to Rs. 25, 000 per month in 2021. The singer had also provided her some farm land and a house worth Rs. 1 crore.

It was also found by the Bihar Women’s Commission that the singer had given her jewelry worth Rs. 25 lakh, and a land, which was later sold by Ranjana.

Her lawyers has said that Ranjana wants to stay with Udit now, citing that her health is now deteriorating.

She has claimed that she feels ignored by Udit and has claimed that the singer had hid Rs. 18 lakh from the sale of their land from her.

She also claimed that upon her visits to Mumbai, she allegedly faces threats and intimidation.

Meanwhile, Udit and Ranjana had tied the knot in 1984, and as he started doing well in his career, he distanced himself from his wife. As per Ranjana, Udit had even stopped acknowledging his marriage.

Later, in 2016, Ranjana had approached Women’s Commission. She claimed that the singer had initially assured her a home and financial support, but those promises were never kept.
