Mere Mehboob, the new song from the Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri – starrer Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Who Wala Video, was out on Monday. The sensuous dance number features the two leads and a gamut of backup dancers gyrating in a dimly lit area. While the catchy tune and beats have had fans tapping their feet along, the choreography has been called in question, especially the steps given to Triptii.
A rather over-the-top effort by Triptii, choreography by Ganesh Acharya and sung by Shilpa Rao, new version of Mere Mehboob. The actress is not new to this sultry avatar. However, at one point, some frantic dance moves make her do pelvic thrusts and gyrations on the floor. When the song was released, clips from these began to circulate in social media and Twitter and Reddit was full of derogatory remarks regarding the choreography.
Reacting to the same, one of the users wrote “This is embarassing for Triptii. So cringe.” Another comment read, “OMG the choreographer needs to be put in jail what the actual f*** are they making her do!”
Many fans said her intimate scene in Animal had turned things around for her, but also typecast her into a sex symbol of sorts.
