It has been quite some time since Triptii Dimri made her debut as an actress Bollywood, but it was not until Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, which shot her to overnight fame and gained her the title of ‘national crush’. Though Triptii loved the limelight that came riding along with her portrayal of Zoya, the praise wasn’t without criticism, which hurt the actress deeply.

Talking about her early struggles, rise to fame and how ‘criticism’ affected her after the release of her first movie Animal, Triptii shared her journey, on Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel. She revealed that she actually cried for two to three days because she wasn’t prepared for the wave of harsh comments that came her way. Her intimate scenes with Ranbir in the film attracted many eyeballs for Triptii. She was well known for doing movies with strong women characters before Animal. But her scenes in Animal divided social media. She admitted that some online remarks were unnecessarily cruel and that was why she would cry, saying, “Roti thi because dimaag khraab hogaya tha ke kya likh rahe hain log (I would cry because I got mad thinking what people were writing).”

Triptii shared that her sister told her to take ownership of her journey and reminded her that she alone knew how hard she had worked to become successful, and to stop brooding about negativity. “Sometimes, crying is the body’s way of telling you to release your trauma,” the actress added.
