After a brief illness, famed Tollywood choreographer Rakesh Master passed away on Sunday. He was 53.
Following a week of attending an outdoor shoot in Visakhapatnam, the choreographer became ill on the flight from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad.
He was admitted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad when his condition worsened, where he passed away on Sunday night. He had multiple organ failure, doctors said. He had significant metabolic acidosis and was diabetic. The film industry was shocked by his passing.
Dance reality programmes like “Aata” and “Dhee” were where Rakesh Master started his career before moving into the film business. He created the choreography for nearly 1,500 films, and he also wrote some popular songs.
His real name was S. Rama Rao, and he was born in Tirupati. Before starting his profession as a dance master, he spent some time in Hyderabad working for Master Mukku Raju.
He had been absent from the profession for a while but had worked with several notable actors, including Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu, Ram Pothineni, and Prabhas.
His social media interviews had generated controversy in several cases. He has made accusations in interviews against some cinema figures for hurting his career.
