Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film, The Archies, has been making headlines ever since its announcement. As it features the Bollywood kids- Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor star in the official Bollywood adaptation of the popular comic The Archies. The makers have even released a teaser for the film, piquing the interest of fans. However, the casting drew some criticisms the team accused of favoring star kids. On the subject, the casting director Nandini Ahrikent in a recent interview clarified that each actor in the film auditioned for the project before being cast.
In the interview, casting director Nandini started by saying that, in any industry, the next generation takes over and this is the same for Bollywood too. However, they have gone through the proper process and as they fit the role they have been cast after auditioning with other actors for the role. Nandini further added, “We didn’t just go over with these roles on the platter to the three star kids and say here they are! A lot of people were tested for various roles and then this fell in place.”
For those who are unaware, Suhana and Khushi will play the roles of Veronica and Betty, respectively, while Agastya will portray Archie in the movie.
