Daniel Balaji, an actor who mainly appeared in Tamil films, died of a heart attack last night at a private hospital in Chennai. The actor was reportedly brought to the hospital yesterday after complaining about chest problems.
The 48-year-old actor’s unexpected death has shocked the Tamil cinema industry and his fans. His body has been sent to his Purasaiwakkam residence for cremation.
Shortly after the actor’s death was announced, tributes began to flood in on social media.
Daniel Balaji began his career as a unit production manager for Kamal Haasan’s unfinished film ‘Marudhunayagam’. He later appeared on television in Radikaa Sarathkumar’s ‘Chithhi’, where his role was named Daniel, gaining him the screen name Daniel Balaji.

He played important roles in the films ‘Kakka Kakka’ and ‘Vettaiyadu Vilayadu’.
His film debut came in 2022, with the Tamil film ‘April Madhathil’. Apart from Tamil films, he has appeared in Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films.
He last appeared in ‘Ariyavan’.
