After Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, the topic of nepotism has been extensively discussed. Many actors and producers have been called out and being trolled on their social media handles. Most actors have either limited or disabled their comment sections to stay from the hate. People cannot believe the fact that an actor who had big hits like ‘M.S.Dhoni’ and ‘Chhichhore’ would be suffering so much. In an interview with Bombay Times, actress Swara Bhasker expressed her opinions on the insider-outsider debate.

When she was asked how Bollywood has changed since the day of Sushant’s demise, Swara said that Bollywood has been under the radar since day one. She quoted “I think lots of issues are getting mixed up. And I think Bollywood ‘insiders’ are in shock and are feeling attacked. I guess things have become brittle – but public discourse in India, in general, has become brittle, polarised and frankly very misinformed and low on the substance quotient.”

Also dissing the insider-outsider debated, Swara added “like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai were once outsiders; now they form the very highest echelons of Bollywood power corridors. Ayushmann Khurrana is a great example of an outsider making it big. I think stardom is basically a reflection of success, power and power dynamics, and that too changes with every hit and flop that you give. I feel, stars may be classified as A and B but actors should be judged on the merit of their art and performances. We may find that some of the finest and best actors and actresses in Bollywood never made it to A lists and A-list parties.”

Swara Bhasker was called out by Kangana Ranaut for not speaking up against nepotism in spite of being an outsider. Kangana also called Swara and Taapsee Pannu “B-grade actresses” which made both of them extremely disappointed.
