Actress Swara Bhaskar in her recent interview with Newslaundry said, ‘Audiences have to factor themselves in, and their own consumption patterns’. She further added, ‘”If you have so much love for outsiders, watch our films in theatres. It’s great that you’re raging on Twitter and all that is lovely, but just look at the box office collections of Rajkumar Rao’s Trapped, Irrfan’s Karwaan, Sushant’s Sonchiriya…”
The 32-year-old actress swayed everyone with her excellent performance in the movie ‘Ranjhana’. After the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, there has been enormous pressure on Bollywood to eradicate ‘Nepotism’, a culture that is predominant in the industry.
In her interview with Newslaundry the ‘Tanu weds Manu’ star, further expressed her dissatisfaction with the ongoing tug of war between the fans and the celebrities by stating, “Look at the box office collections of Dhadak, Heropanti, Student of the Year. Compare that and tell me, who is interested in watching star kids’. She added, ‘This kind of individual name-calling is not a helpful conversation is not helpful at all. The way to talk about this is to actually go deeper and look at the structural issues’. Swara has urged the audience to take responsibility as per the decisions they take regarding the cinema, as it is them who eventually have the power of making a movie a commercial success or not.
Swara is delighted by the transition of the movie releases that are now happening through the OTT’S by giving them the credit of identifying the worthy talent in the country and giving them an equal opportunity to showcase the talent as well.
