Rashmika Mandanna has been in the headlines recently for her deepfake video that has been surfacing all over the internet. The issue grew intense when even Amitabh Bachchan commented on the serious offence committed. The actor supported the cause and raised concerns for investigating the matter at hand. However, in no time the real video was also found showing that Rashmika’s face had been misused.
The actress has also released a statement regarding the incident. An FIR was lodged on the 10th of November under IPC section 465 (punishment for forgery) and 469 (forgery to harm reputation). In addition to that, sections 66C and 66E of the IT Act 2000 were also being registered. The complaint was filed at the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit of the Delhi Police Department
The Delhi Commission of Women has told the police to file an FIR.
As of 15th November, Delhi Police has even found a suspect who is from Bihar and seems to have a connection with Rashmika’s deepfake video.
The Indian Government has even issued notice to the social media platforms to raise privacy restrictions for such matters.
