
Sushant Singh Rajput’s film ‘Dil Bechara’ releases on Disney+ Hotstar on Friday at sharp 7:30 pm. This is Sushant’s 12th film and 2nd film that skipped the cinemas and released directly on an OTT platform. Sushant had managed to give six box office hits in his career.
His debut film ‘Kai Po Che’ was made on the budget of Rs 30 crores and earned Rs 43 crores at the box office. This film gave him love from the audience as well as the critics. After this came ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ opposite Vaani Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. This film was made on the budget of Rs 25 crores and earned around Rs 75 crore from a worldwide collection.
Sushant’s next role was as a supporting character in Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma’s ‘PK’ which was Sushant’s biggest hit. It earned almost Rs 537 crore worldwide.
The film that changed Sushant’s career was his 2016 release. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is Sushant’s most memorable film. The director had not even seen Sushant’s previous work and locked him on the bases of trust and instincts. The movie was made at a massive budget of Rs 100 crore and it earned Rs 155 crores worldwide.
In terms of profit, Sushant’s last theatrically release ‘Chhichhore’ had the highest multiplier. ‘Chhichhore’ was made at a decent budget of Rs 43 crore and earned Rs 147 crores, making profits almost triple. The return on investment striking 117%.
Now Sushant’s last film ‘Dil Bechara’ was sold to Disney+ Hotstar and will skip the theatrical release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This film introduces debutant Sanjana Sanghi in the industry. As a tribute to the late actor, the OTT platform has made the film accessible to the non-subscribers as well.
