Suman Kumari, a Bhojpuri actress, was detained for leading a prostitution racket in Bombay.
Accusations against the 24-year-old actress include forcing females into prostitution in exchange for more than Rs 50,000. Suman was apprehended in plain sight, according to Mumbai Police, after officers stormed a hotel in Goregaon on a tip-off.
A team of Mumbai Police reportedly sent a phoney customer to Suman, who charged between Rs 50,000 and Rs 80,000 for one lady, according to a Midday story. The man requested that three girls be sent to the Royal Palm Hotel in Goregaon’s Aarey Colony; after the hotel was raided, Suman was taken into custody.
The actress, whose real name is Suman Yadav, is also known as Suman Kumari or Suman Kumari Tetu Gopi.
She has appeared in a number of Bhojpuri films, including “Laila Majnu,” “Baap Numbari Beta 10 Numbari,” and “Jomestic Box.” She has also appeared in a few songs in both Hindi and Punjabi.
Only a few days before the Suman Kumari case, television star Aarti Mittal was detained in Goregaon for operating a prostitution ring.
The daily soaps ‘Appnapan – Badalate Rishton Ka Bandhan,’ ‘Na Umra Ki Seema Ho,’ ‘Yeh Hai Chahatein,’ ‘Dharampatni,’ and others featured Aarti.
The Mumbai Police have now opened an inquiry into the region for related prostitution racket operations in the city following Suman Kumari’s arrest.
