Soumitra Chatterjee‘s heath condition has deteriorated to a ‘very critical’ stage now. The veterinary actor was admitted to a private hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19. While doctors were very confident up until last week, about his recovery but now they are slowly giving up since Chatterjee is not responding to any medical treatment.
The doctors have put him on oxygen support and are trying out a treatment called ‘plasmapheresis’ on him. In this process, the blood plasma gets filtered or exchanged. While Soumitra is still suffering from secondary Pneumonia, the Neurologists and Nephrologists are now planning on their next course of action.
The 85 year old’s organs are gradually giving up, likewise his kidney is no longer functioning. And apart from that, his platelet count has also dropped. Whereas his urea creatinine levels have increased. His deteriorating health has become a serious concern for the doctors. But as of now, the actor has been put on ventilator, a life support system for protecting his airways.
