Sooraj Barjatya is often credited for shaping Salman Khan’s iconic on-screen persona, Prem, a character that has attained a special status in Indian cinema. Recently, it has been learnt that the filmmaker is working on a new script to reunite with the actor. During a recent conversation, he express excitement over collaborating with Salman.

During an interview with Hindustan Times, he said, “The next project is on cards, and it will be on a different matured level.” However, he added that it will  take time to materialize it. Sooraj explained that as he and Salman are both growing old, he needs to create a different version of the iconic character Prem that resonates with Salman’s current age.

The filmmaker has assured that the fresh portrayal will retain the fun, charm, and family values associated with Prem, but in a much mature narrative.

Sooraj introduced Salman as Prem in Bollywood quintessential love boy with Maine Pyaar Kiya in 1989. The actor went on to play the character Prem in movies such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
