Actor Sonam Kapoor slams Instagram for not removing abusive comments and death threats made on social media against her sister, film producer Rhea Kapoor. Sonam posted a story of Instagram’s response to abusive comments reported by Rhea Kapoor.
“Instagram doesn’t think death threats are a violation or their India team can’t read Hindi,” Sonam wrote while posting the screenshot as her Instagram story. Instagram’s response to Rhea’s report was that the abusive comments did not go against their community guideline and hence, were not removed. Further, the app suggested that the producer could unfollow, mute or block the person.
Rhea also shared the news on social media with a message that read, “Of course I will block this individual but are you doing your part to keep the ‘community’ safe?” She also shared a screenshot of the comment that read: “Tu toh kutte ki maut maregi din (You’ll die a dog’s death someday).”
Further, Rhea added, “Just charming. Of course I am happy to block unnecessarily hateful people without giving it a thought but what pisses me off is that a death threat isn’t against your ‘community guideline’ Instagram?”
Earlier, Sonam had called out at trolls and had shared the hateful messages she had been getting online. The actress has switched off her as well as her parent’s accounts comment section, amid the nepotism debate in the media. Sonam also revealed that the step was taken keeping in mind mental health and peace, because some of the netizens were going rogue over the issue.
