‘Some call me Jocky’ Jackie Shroff reacts to India Vs. Bharat dispute – WATCH

Jackie said, “You people keep changing the country’s name, but don’t forget that you are an Indian.”

Following in the footsteps of Amitabh Bachchan, actor Jackie Shroff addressed the recent debate over the use of the word “Bharat” instead of “India.”

During a media interaction, actor Jackie Shroff said, “Earlier, our country was called Bharat right? My name is Jackie, some call me Jocky, and some call me Jaki. People change my name because of that I will not change. Just the name will change, we will not. You people keep changing the country’s name, but don’t forget that you are an Indian.”

Earlier today, iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan’s latest tweet piqued everyone’s interest. Amitabh wrote in Hindi on X (previously known as Twitter), “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” on September 5.

Given that his tweet was sent amid the India-Bharat squabble, it appears that Big B was simply expressing his support for India’s name change.

President Draupadi Murmu’s invitations to heads of state, governments, and Chief Ministers of States for an official banquet during the G20 Summit in New Delhi sparked controversy since the name “India” was replaced with “Bharat.”

Instead of the traditional “President of the Republic of India,” the name “Bharat” was used, sparking scepticism among political circles, particularly among members of the Opposition INDIA coalition.

Earlier today, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is terrified of the name India, adding that PM Modi’s antipathy for the name has grown since opposition parties opted to call their bloc INDIA.
