Sheezan Khan expresses disappointment towards Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar says, “Urdu Ke Sath Naainsaafi”

Sheezan asserted that no one in the entire cast of Bhansali’s Heeramandi, except for veteran actress Farida Jalal, could speak correct Urdu.

Sheezan Khan, a television actor, appears to be unimpressed with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum work, Heeramandi, which was released on OTT on May 1. The actor questioned the maverick filmmaker over the series’ casting and accused the actors of doing an insult to the Urdu language.

On Wednesday, Sheezan took to Instagram to say that no one in the whole cast of Bhansali’s Heeramandi could speak good Urdu, with the exception of renowned actress Farida Jalal.

He expressed his disgust in an Instagram story, claiming that no one’s Urdu pronunciations were correct in the web series. “Apart from Farida Jalal ji! Nobody could speak ‘urdu’ in SLB’s Heeramandi! Kisi Ka Nuqta, kha, qaf apni jagah pe nahi hai!! Kyu bhai kyu?? Urdu ke saath itni naainsaafi. Disappointed,” he stated.

Heeramandi premiered on Netflix on May 1 amid great expectation and hype, and it stars Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal in prominent roles. It also marks Fardeen Khan’s reappearance, as well as the appearances of Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman.

Heeramandi, set in the 1940s, tells the story of courtesans in Lahore’s glittering neighbourhood and the upheavals that occurred during the Indian freedom fight.

Meanwhile, a special screening of Heeramandi was conducted in the city in the last week of April, attended by some of the biggest celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Vijay Verma, Salman Khan, Rekha, and others. While the stars praised the show and Bhansali, critics gave Heeramandi mixed reviews after its release.
