Chak De India was one of the films that defined the sports genre in Bollywood. The film launched filmy careers of multiple actors and added a feather of versatility in Shah Rukh’s career. Apart from being one of the blockbusters of Shah Rukh’s career, it is also one of his personal favourites. The soundtrack of the film by Salim Sulaeman was such a hit that even today any sport’s event in school or college is incomplete without Chak De India Title Song. Shah Rukh took to Instagram to thank everyone associated with the film. Posting his selfie in sunglasses he wrote, “Just felt like thanking all the young ladies of Chak De India for making the film such a beautiful experience. Now if you must be wondering when did Shah Rukh became “Gunda” then you need to recall your memories of Chak De India. In of the iconic scenes of the film is when Kabir Khan confronts Bindia Naik played by Shilpa Shukla. He says, ” Mai is team ka “Gunda” ho (I am the villain of the team).
The character of Kabir Khan popped up in the news when the Indian Women’s Hockey Team qualified for the semi-finals in Tokyo Olympics. The Indian coach thanked Shah Rukh Khan after the team’s win and asked for the second part of Chak De India.
