Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be bringing Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal together for his upcoming movie Love & War. In a recent interview, the director said that the epic love triangle movie is both difficult and important to him. It’s also why he wants to take his time and not lose sight of his ensemble cast.

The rumors that Love & War is inspired by the 1964 hit film Sangam, starring Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala and Rajendra Kumar have been floating since it was announced. Bhansali told The Hollywood Reporter India, “You should not remake Sholay, Mother India. So, why would I remake Sangam?”

The Heeramandi helmer said, “It’s a very very special film because it’s now not in the period, there are no pillars, no more costumes, no more horses; it’s contemporary. It’s different, the music is different.” As far as Ranbir is concerned, he is joining hands with the Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar star after 18 years.

The filmmaker also praised Alia that even though they have worked together in a national award winning film Gangubai Kathiawadi, he can’t stop working with her because there’s so much more to say through her. “Still so much to tap into that chota packet bada dhamaka girl that she is,” stated Bhansali.

Speaking of actor Vicky Kaushal, director said that it will be the first time that they are working together. “The love for them that I have, the love for me that they have, so far, is very very good. I am looking forward,” he expressed.
