During the early hours of Thursday, Saif was attacked by an intruder at his Bandra West home. Post the attack, the Race actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for the treatment of his multiple stabbing wounds. He reached hospital while a piece of knife was still lodged in his spine.

The actor was stabbed six times, including his neck, during the scuffle between him and the intruder. The doctors at one of the most esteemed hospitals of Mumbai have remarked that Saif is now out of danger, and is recovering well.

Some of the reports suggest that after the attack, which occurred some time around 2 am near the room of his youngest son Jeh Ali Khan, Saif was brought to hospital with his son, Taimur Ali Khan, and his caretaker.

A CCTV footage has been emerged online, which captures the intruder making his way into the building at 1.30 pm.
