When actor Rishi Kapoor passed away last year, he left a void in the Bollywood film industry that can’t ever be filled. With movies like Mulk and Kapoor and Sons, it was hard to believe that the actor had been a romantic hero in the prime of his career.
The actor made an entry into movies with his debut in Mera Naam Joker when he was all 15 years of age. But it was the movie Bobby that pushed him into the spotlight. He was an actor across all genres, with movies such as Kabhi Kabhi, Heena, Bol Radha Bol, Deewana and Khel Khel Mein.
Rishi Kapoor was aware of the chance his second innings had given him. His words during the Vadodara Literature Festival in 2017 reflect that. “For the first 25 years of my career, I did nothing but sing and dance. In my second innings, I have got the chance to act,” he had said.
Movies such as Do Dooni Chaar and Love Aaj Kal opened up new doors for him. From then, it was all about Rishi Kapoor making us laugh and cry with movies such as Kapoor and Sons and 102 Not out. His characters will remain etched forever in every cinema lovers’ heart.
